Miguel Indurain and Frank Fredericks are just a few of the international and Olympic sports stars, who cycled through Copenhagen on the Copenhagen Bike Tour 2009. They ended up at the opening of Copenhagen Countdown at the City Hall Square where the Danes were warming up to the IOC Congress and the election of the 2016 Olympic City.
Copenhagen Bike Tour, which is part of Copenhagen Olympic Festival, began at Bella Center and finished at Copenhagens City Hall Square. The route is eight kilometers long and runs through Ørestad, Amager Fælled, Islands Brygge, Christianshavn and city centre.
Tour of Bike City
The aim of Copenhagen Bike Tour is to give the international delegates a tour of Bike City Copenhagen. The Danish capital is the only city to have been awarded the UCI Bike City label and will host six world class cycling events between 2008 and 2011, e.g. the Track World Championships in 2010 and the Road World Championships and the BMX World Championships both in 2011.
